Have you ever seen a room where all the furniture is up against the perimeter of the room? If so, you can bet the furniture placement is not showing off the space as well as it could. This may have beeen a great configuration for protecting the old camp site, but it doesn't serve you nearly as well in a living or family room.
Not only does it leave awkward space in the middle of the room, but it doesn't project a cozy feel since we intuitively respond to the lack of support for conversation and intimacy.
